‘The Mandalorian’ was the first Start Wars series to have debuted through Disney+, their new and popular subscription streaming service. This space Western series takes place five years after the events of the “Return of the Jedi” and follows a Mandalorian -who are the people from the planet Mandalore- as a bounty hunter set out beyond the reaches of the New Republic.

With the popularity that Bobba and Jango Fett had on their respective Star Wars films, Jon Favreau (the series creator) wanted to give this mysterious race with a strong warrior tradition a more predominant role than in its previous installments. The series depicts The Mandalorian as a Clint Eastwood-esque character with advanced combat skills and a tough presence.

Another popular feature in the series is the addition of the popular 50-year old, yet childish Yoda-esque character - who can use the power of the force. This “Baby Yoda”, as has been nicknamed by the global community, has led to an explosion of merchandise and memes featuring the cute character.

Each episode has been welcomed with general consensus of its high-quality production and action-packed plot, and promises to be a welcome addition to the Star Wars universe. There are a total of 8 episodes available, each running between 31 and 42 minutes, with the last released back on December 27, 2019.

The Mandalorian

2019 was a great year for Apple. Instead of entering new product categories, the tech giant focused on improving their software and feedback from their users to improve their AirPods, Apple Watch and iPhones.

2020 looks promising, with rumors already circulating around many media outlets speculating on what new features this year’s iPhone will bring. One of the main features that experts are expecting from Apple this year is 5G connectivity, which will make it competitive with its rivals’ new models.

One of the most talked about changes to the new model are bigger screen sizes that could go as large as 6.7 inches (as opposed to the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s 6.5-inch display). Experts also believe the new models will have a 120Hz refresh rate that will give users a feeling of smoother and faster scrolling through apps and web pages.

It’s possible that Apple will expand its iPhone line with four new iPhone 12 models: a 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch phones and a 6.7-inch phone. All of them will have OLED (or Organic LED) displays. There could also be an extra model resembling the iPhone SE, which is rumored to look like the iPhone 8 and could be released as early as the first quarter of 2020

Apple could also implement 3D depth sensing to their new model’s rear cameras, similar to the front-facing cameras from the newer models used for facial recognition, which would significantly improve its augmented reality applications.

After days or weeks of indulgence during the holiday season, many people resolve going into a diet and hitting the gym to lose some of those impending extra pounds.

Diets come and go like trends, but some of them maintain their popularity through the decades albeit having drawbacks. These are the most popular diets that people will try coming the new year:

  1. Low-Carb Diet: The idea of this one is to cut nutrient-poor foods like potato chips, baked products, candy and soda. The trick with this one is to keep in mind that lots of healthy foods also are high in carbs, such as fruits, vegetables and beans, and that a good balance is key.

  2. Calorie Restriction: Calories have always been enemies as far as diets go. There are calorie-counting apps that can help track a person’s food intake, as well as strategies to eat more vegetables, more white-meat chicken and fish, and more fruits.

  3. Keto Diet: The ketogenic (Keto) diet cuts off carbs, but increases the ingest of mostly fat with some protein. Keto dieters also cut carbs to less than 50 grams per day. The idea is that the body burns fat for fuel instead of carbs.

  4. Low-Fat Diet: Not all fat is bad, but doctors recommend limiting saturated fat and increasing non-saturated fats like the type found in nuts, seeds and fish.

  5. Plant-Based Diet: Be it vegan, vegetarian or not, eating less meat and eating more plant foods with high-quality proteins like eggs, soy, beans, and nuts.

The Chinese zodiac is a big theme at Uptown Aces for the past 12 months as we have seen dozens of new Asian-themed game releases. Most of these new slots are inspired by the Far-East’s Zodiac and mythology.

The Chinese Zodiac plays a very big role in modern day China. The Zodiac has been used for centuries as a guide for making big decisions.

Believe it or not, the Chinese Zodiac is influencing demographics, world economy, relationships and political decisions in China. So, what’s the fuzz about the zodiac? We have gathered a series of fun facts about the Chinese Zodiac, so you can appreciate the depth and tradition behind this ancient practice.

It’s not about the stars

As opposed to the Greco-Roman 12-sign zodiac, the Chinese version is not inspired by astrology. It stems from ancient Chinese philosophy. It is also a 12 sign zodiac, but it represents years rather than star constellations. Each sign is represented by an animal.

¼ of the world’s population

A quarter of the world’s population is using the Zodiac to guide their lives. They use it to name newborns, to decide whom to marry, when to give birth, and determining attitudes between one another. The Chinese believe several animal signs get better along together than with others. Parents choose specific years to give birth, in order to make a harmonious zodiac sign family.

Romantic couples are also influenced by the Zodiac. Some signs are thought to be highly compatible, while there are others that are considered natural enemies.

The power of the Dragon

The sign of the Dragon is very auspicious, symbolizing power, wealth and prosperity. Many Chinese parents dream of having a child in the year of the Dragon. In 2012, the year of the Dragon, birth rates increased 5% in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan; an equivalent of 1 million extra babies that year!

The Tiger and the Goat

At the other end of the Zodiac are the unlucky signs: the Tiger and the Goat. During these years, child birthrates are lower in Asia. Surprisingly, most of the top 300 wealthiest persons in the world are born under precisely these two signs!

Zodiac Sign Index

Many Chinese business people make their decisions based on this index. These decisions are making a big impact not only in China but also in the world. China plays an important role in the global economy and politics; it is thus becoming very important to understand the impact of the Chinese Zodiac and other Chinese traditions.
