  • Overall value: The Google Pixel 3a has a 12.2MP rear-facing camera, an Octa-core (2.0GHz + 1.7GHz) and 4GB of RAM. The smartphone ensures 7 hours of use on just a 15-minute charge and a 5.6" Full HD+ (2220 x 1080) OLED touch screen.

The appearance of the novel coronavirus has brought into worldwide attention the importance of keeping a clean phone free from germs, as it can easily become a transmitter of germs and infection. Most of health guidelines against the virus suggest keeping your hands clean and not touching your face, but actually your smartphone’s metal, glass or plastic surfaces can host the virus for up to 9 days!

  • First, don’t panic about it: Germs can be successfully eliminated by disinfecting a phone’s surface with an alcohol solution or wipes over its screen and nonporous exterior surfaces, avoiding getting moisture in any of the openings.

  • Most smartphones come with a microfiber cloth which most of us forget about after a couple of weeks of getting a new model. Remember to keep it and use it to wipe your gadget with a mix of 40/60 alcohol-to-water and slightly dampen the soft cloth in it.

  • If you’re using your phone to make constant calls, it means your face is more in contact with bacteria than you think. One way to avoid this is to use call-capable earbuds or earphones, which will keep your phone, and potentially harmful germs, safely away from your face.

  • Remember that washing your hands regularly with soap is still one of the most efficient ways to keep yourself - and your phone - free of germs. Also, try to keep your phone away from places like your kitchen sink, dinner table and your bathroom - we’re serious, don’t take your phone to the bathroom with you!

  • Ensure your phone is germ-free just as you would your hands and face. Time to clean it from the outside as often as possible and make your device a place where viruses and bacteria won’t want to grow. Do you keep your phone as clean on the outside as you do on the inside? Food for thought!

2019 was a great year for Apple. Instead of entering new product categories, the tech giant focused on improving their software and feedback from their users to improve their AirPods, Apple Watch and iPhones.

2020 looks promising, with rumors already circulating around many media outlets speculating on what new features this year’s iPhone will bring. One of the main features that experts are expecting from Apple this year is 5G connectivity, which will make it competitive with its rivals’ new models.

One of the most talked about changes to the new model are bigger screen sizes that could go as large as 6.7 inches (as opposed to the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s 6.5-inch display). Experts also believe the new models will have a 120Hz refresh rate that will give users a feeling of smoother and faster scrolling through apps and web pages.

It’s possible that Apple will expand its iPhone line with four new iPhone 12 models: a 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch phones and a 6.7-inch phone. All of them will have OLED (or Organic LED) displays. There could also be an extra model resembling the iPhone SE, which is rumored to look like the iPhone 8 and could be released as early as the first quarter of 2020

Apple could also implement 3D depth sensing to their new model’s rear cameras, similar to the front-facing cameras from the newer models used for facial recognition, which would significantly improve its augmented reality applications.

For next year, we shall keep our eyes open for the upcoming foldable Surface Duo phone with two screens which runs on Android. It will feature two 5.6 inch displays and has a 360-degree hinge. Also the Surface Neo, a two-screened laptop which will also run on Google’s Android operating system -rather than Microsoft Windows- shows that Microsoft is aiming towards mobile and cloud-based products for their future!
