What’s going on with everyone’s favorite Apple?
Last week, the tech giant hosted this year’s big “By Innovation Only” event on Sept 10 and unveiled the new generation of iPhones - the 11, 11 Pro and 11Pro Max, a new iPad and the Apple Watch Series 5.
So, what’s new?
All three of Apple’s new iPhones will be available on September 20, and will start at $699 for an iPhone 11 64 GB model. It features a 6.1-inch Liquid Crystal Display, the A13 bionic chipset and 12-megapixel dual cameras on the back. The 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max versions feature three cameras on the back and also include a fast 18-watt power brick charger. The 11 Pro starts at $999 for the 64 GB version and the 11 Pro Max at $1099.
Can I afford any of this?
Yes, you can. Starting at $329, the seventh generation iPad is the most affordable to date and features a 10.2-inch retina display, the advanced A10 Fusion chip and a modern camera and sensors, plus an all-day battery life. This gadget will be available in stores and online on September 30.
What about my time-telling machine?
The all-new Apple Watch Series 5 brings a larger screen and features an always-on display. This won’t eat up your battery, though, as Apple says you can expect an 18-hour charge. The Series 5 is starting at $499 on September 20.
It’s hard to think that a device that plays such an important role in modern everyday life could be considered an addiction. The truth is that around 60 to 70 per cent of smartphone owners describe themselves as “too reliant” on them, and the average adult spends approximately from 2 to 4 hours on their smartphone every day.
From drivers using phones behind the wheel and an increase in injuries on pedestrians related to their mobiles to it impacting their social life and even mental health, smartphone addiction is a very real issue. It can also worsen our concentration, as frequent distraction from our smartphones affects the capability of the brain to maintain a longer focus in any activity.
Don’t get hooked! Social Media apps are designed to produce short-term, dopamine-driven loops on their users, so they can crave them at any time and any place. Social media stimulates the brain’s pleasure centers as much as what food and sex do. This can be especially valuable for social media platforms, as they can sell advertisers the attention of millions of people.
While there is nothing inherently addictive about mobile phones, potentially being in contact with 2 billion people around the world, and thousands of games and movies being at the reach of a person’s pocket can create a strong attachment between the owner and the smartphone. Increased levels of smartphone use can ultimately relate to anxiety and depression, poor sleep quality and risk or car accidents.
Shock! Horror! It’s time to stop and think just how much time we actually spend on our smartphones. Stop for a second there and enjoy the greenery!

Technology: it’s what seems to keep the world turning. One could argue it’s love, but let’s face it; technology is a big deal in our every day lives too. With every passing year, technology just seems to keep getting better and edgier; at times it even seems a little scary. But if it weren’t for technology, where would we be? Communicating with our loved ones wouldn’t be as immediate and buying plane tickets would depend on a physical trip to the travel agency. Long gone are the days when we had to go to a saloon or a brick and mortar casino to place bets on our favorite games. Now, it seems, the world is truly in the palm of our hands. And 2018 has continued to impress with the many technological advances we’ve seen thus far with some of the most interesting and cutting-edge gadgets ever.
The iPhone X as well as the Google Pixel 2 were released in 2018 and have already become two of the most superb models on the market this year. While they run on opposite operating systems, iOS and Android, both have proved to be fantastic devices with outstanding graphic features perfect for photography and gaming.
When we’re not talking about phones in the technological era, here come the home devices such as Google Home and the Amazon Echo. These so-called voice activated assistants aim to make everyday life easier and more entertaining. You can schedule appointments, play your favorite tunes in one single voice command, program reminders and much more – and in the near future, these devices might just do laundry for you, too!
Technology has also come a long ways in the gaming area with devices such as the Nintendo Switch and the Sony PlayStation 4. Both are fantastic for kids as well as grow-ups, with an unbelievable range of games that help make gaming as realistic as possible without getting into Augmented Reality.
With 6 months more to go this 2018, we can only imagine what more interesting and powerful techy devices will come out. Perhaps a device that helps us get to our jobs faster without having to use cars or public transportation. Teleportation? Sounds like a plan!

An Online Slots Players’ Ultimate Action Dream “Avengers: Infinity War”
Released just this May, “Avengers: Infinity War” is the latest cinematic creation for both action lovers and online slots players alike. This epic battle brings together almost the entire cast of heroes that Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been creating since the release of the incredibly successful “Iron Man” back in 2008.
This exciting film follows the Avengers, which have been broken up and scattered after the catastrophic results of “Captain America: Civil War,” as the group reunites to fight Thanos. The already powerful villain, Thanos is one of the most powerful titans of all times whose sole purpose is to search for the five Infinity Stones: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality and Power. When these stones are combined on the Infinity Gauntlet – whoever has access to it— becomes omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. And who wouldn’t want those three powers? They would surely come in handy when you’re thinking about your next bet amount before hitting the spin button.
Can the idea of “Avengers: Infinity War” ever be translated into the online casino and online slots world? Or at the very least, will we see slot games featuring some the film’s most iconic characters or perhaps a bonus round game that grants players the power of omnipresence to figure out which stone will pay out the highest jackpot prize? We’ll just have to wait and see what inspiration the online gambling industry gathers from what seems to be one of the most iconic action movies of recent times.
